About Us
Tangmere Primary Academy Nursery is situated in the picturesque village of Tangmere, close to the historic
cathedral city of Chichester.
We offer up to 32.5 hours of childcare with hours that match the school day. Parents can select the available hours they require and the children will be able to develop their skills in a stimulating and engaging environment.
The nursery has a large inside free flow environment where the children can actively explore all the areas of the Early Years curriculum. This includes sensory activities, a self selecting creative area and a well resourced construction area.
Our beautiful outside area has extensive grounds where the children can practise their large motor skills using the equipment on offer to them. This includes a tree climbing area, a selection of climbing frames, a fantastic water exploration area and an exciting mud kitchen, complete with a herb garden.
Our fully qualified and experienced staff ensure every child feels safe, valued and confident to explore the world around them. Children are supported to grow and develop at their own pace through offering them intriguing invitations to learning. The nursery works with an ‘in the moment’ planning. This means that as well as resources that are available to the children in the environment, the staff will observe what the children are interested in and will extend the resources to support the continuation of the children’s learning.
The children are introduced to early phonics and maths using fun songs, games and activities. We support the children’s understanding of phonics by familliarising with Read Write Inc. (RWI) rhymes and games, which supports a strong transition to our Reception Class.
We use ‘Ten Town’, an interactive online resource for maths. The children get to know great characters that help them understand the concept of counting, quantity and number recognition.
We believe that the children benefit from experiencing different environments beyond the classroom and learning is extended outside the classroom through a number of trips into the local area and regular forest school sessions, underpinned by the whole school vision:
‘To provide every child with the primary experience that best prepares them for their futures’
