Sunflower Class - Nursery

At Tangmere Primary Academy we are lucky enough to have a Nursery Class as part of the school.  We are able to offer 15hours per week of free Government funded education from the term after your child's 3rd birthday.  Our sessions run from 9am until 12pm monday to friday, term time only.

We have a dedicated and talented Early Years team who ensure that the children have an inviting and inspiring environment for the children to learn within.  Sessions are carefully planned with the children's individual needs in mind, following the Foundation Stage Curriculum.

If you would like further information regarding our Nursery Class please email the Early Years Lead on

Please also see a number of Nursery policies to the right of this page including the EYFS policy and our Admissions policy.

If you would like your child to attend our Nursery class, please complete the Request for a Place form to the right of this page and return it to the Early Years Email found above.

This Year in Nursery Class

The Nursery class, like the rest of the school, follows a two year whole school theme cycle.  We tailer the texts and the activities to meet the needs of the children within the class.

Autumn Term

We are looking forward to welcoming our new starters and their families into the Nursery class this term.  We will be spending the first few weeks getting to know our new friends and exploring the environemnt.

Until half term we will be looking at a range of Julia Donaldson books and the characters that we meet within them.  We are looking forward to hearing all about the children's favourite books which they enjoy reading  together at home.

JD books

After half term we will be embarking on our next whole school theme.

TPA Toy Lending Library

We have spent some of our Early Years Pupil Premium funding on buying resources for a Home Learning Lending Library.

We hope that our Lending Library will encourage further links with our parents; and help develop the children’s personal and social skills, their language and communication, and early maths and literacy development.

Each week the library will be open for you to borrow a game/ puzzle/ story sack to enjoy at home.  You could record your child’s learning with these resources on their Tapestry online Journal Account.

We would love you to tell us which story sacks and games you and your child have enjoyed, and do let us know if there is anything else that you would like to see us providing.
