Dementia Hub Visits

At Tangmere Primary Academy, we are lucky enough to have strong links with Sage House Dementia Hub.

At Tangmere Primary Academy we are excited to be continually developing a number of projects with the Sage House Dementia Hub.  Our School Council Action group are busy planning a number of activities to share with the clients as well as fund raising activities.

Staff from Sage House have met with the School Council to explain what The Dementia Hub does to support the community and how we can help their clients.  One year Sam delivered a workshop to the Year 5 and 6 pupils to help them further understand about dementia and how it can affect people’s lives.

The School Council were lucky enough to visit the Dementia hub and go to the site to see how the facility was to be improved for their clients, returning later in the year to see it once the building work had finished.

Since Sage House has been extended the children have been involved in a number of activities such as:

- Reading sessions with the clients

- Singing Time

-Action Action Week - the children accompanied some of the clients on walk around the school grounds, giving them the   opportunity to learn more about their new friends. The children then served the clients tea and cake, finishing the visit with a suprise singing session.  https://issuu.com/postnewspapers5/docs/chichester_post_issue_161

National Storytelling Week 2020

This year Sage House helped us to celebrate National Storytelling Week.  Each class practiced retelling a story before visiting Sage House to perform to the clients and staff.  The children and clients enjoyed a variety of different stories including a piece about The Fire of London and Samuel Peeps' Diary, Man on The Moon to name a few.  The children also enjoyed talking to the clients about their different jobs and joining in with some of singing and dancing sessions.
