Key Stage 1 Results

Key Stage 1 Results (Due to National Lockdown, there are no results to report upon from 2020)

Each year, in the summer term, year 2 pupils sit tests in Reading, Grammar Punctuation and Spelling and Mathematics. Throughout the summer term, evidence for reading and maths is gathered by staff in order to reach a ‘Teacher Assessment Judgement’ for pupils in Reading and Maths which takes account of work produced by the child, observations made by the teacher and outcomes of the tests.  In writing, there is no test and staff gather evidence of children’s writing in order for them to make a ‘Teacher Assessment Judgement’ of children’s writing.  Our ‘Teacher Assessment Judgements’ are moderated within school and with other schools locally and within TKAT.

The table below outlines the number of pupils reaching Age Related Expectations (ARE) at the end of Key Stage 1 in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Phonics Screening Check

At the end of Year 1, children work 1:1 with a member of staff to sit the Phonics Screening Check.  This is a test of their understanding of phonics and ability to decode unknown words.  The check uses both real and ‘alien’ words. Alien words are nonsense words that follow phonic rules and can be decoded and read aloud.

The table below outlines the number of pupils passing the Phonics Screening Check in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
